BBC Two 2015 with 90s idents

10-12 would have been a perfect slot for BBC3 content - not so much BBC4. However if the channel goes the content goes - that's where the saving is made.

Just come across this which features a video with a BBC 2 DOG, featuring the "BBC TWO", as well as the "2" logo. Don't think I've seen this before

It's something they've been doing on YouTube clips for a while.

Promo for Upstart Crow, shown at 7:00pm, featuring the '2' in the glass at the end (not unlike Cappucino ident). Somebody's hand places the glass onto the table before letting go and the hand moves out of shot.



It's a real shame BBC2 cannot seem to locate and use that Shakespeare 'Bard on the Box' 1994 ident, as the colouring and the look in that ident, and this promo at the end, is strikingly similar, as to be practically identical IMO.

Were there not supposed to be six new idents this year. Haven't we only seen the Chinese New Year one so far?

I'd rather they didn't bother, and just added the last remaining few from the 1991-2001 set

Next cuts is probably scrapping BBC News Channel, They all ready trying to take away its viewers now with Victoria Derbyshire and non rolling news stuff.

The thing is nearly ALL other news channels have programmes filling its slots especial during the weekends. Aj even had a soap!

I think there's more of a risk of BBC Two getting cuts and replaced with the News Channel.

Seeing how it's the 2's 25th anniversary this year, surely they'd bring back some of the older idents, after all, they brought back Silk, so perhaps we could see the likes of Optics or Paint? (Yes, I am aware of the whole SD/HD issue).

It would be interesting to see if they were bought back, they used the white box like with Silk, I thought it was a much better contrast with the blue film, but some might say otherwise...

I keep saying this, but assuming that the idents were originally recorded on 35 mm film, would it not be possible to just re-scan the original negatives into a high definition format? Surely they still exist?

There still remains a selection of the old 1997 set which could be brought back to life, like aerial. I suspect most here would like Paint to be brought back to match Paint Pot, personally I've always been a fan of Optic.
