Lovely that, reminded me of the tail end of this (cc: Paul Clark).

I won't even criticise the stupidity of the hashtag.

I think there might be a bit more than an influence, actually...

Yep, it had me wondering...

And agree with the comment about the network next pointers. Granted they are not used too often now but the picture quality is incredibly bad - not surprising given that they're merely heavily zoomed versions of some of the earlier idents. Bit worrying that they've been allowed on air from a technical standards point of view.

Anything will do I guess. Mind you, the previous Window one that used Seascape underneath looked decidedly fuzzy also. Especially next to the comparatively lovely and sharp 2007-9 variations.

Family Guy is on BBC Two, not BBC Three, for it's final batch of new episodes before moving to ITV2.

Ignore the season numbers mentioned though, they don't match. There is no season 15 yet, ITV2 starts with season 14 - or season 16 if you go by boxset numbers (as the most recent release is season 14, which is really season 12). The Simpsons Guy is the start of season 13 by US broadcast, but will be on the season 15 boxset if they don't stop them like they did with The Simpsons ones.

Long shot, but could we get a new BBC2 ident for Family Guy? They could easily modify the BBC Three ones that used to run a few years ago presumably.

Doubt it. They've yet to add any completely new idents to the 1991-2001 set since they were resurrected last year. This was the fourth from last ident they made (the later ones were Christmas 2000, I Love the 80s, and a Star Trek theme night):

References the Simpsons title sequence of course, but I can't see it getting edited for widescreen when it could only be used once.

They added the We Know Food ident and The Wrong Mans idents. I'd be surprised if they make a FG ident though. It'd seem odd them throwing all their weight behind a show which is moving to ITV.

The Simpsons ident won't be used, it advertises a different show for starters, so what would be the point in reviving it for one episode of Family Guy that features the characters? It would be pointless to do it.

Like someone already said, they could perhaps edit the BBC 3 ident/stings they have for Family Guy and replace the "three" text with "TWO".

That is, of course, if they even want to bother. They may stick a standard BBC TWO ident on for it. I doubt ITV 2 will be showing special idents for Family Guy or American Dad.

I would have presumed it was made in widescreen originally, as with all BBC idents from 1997.

BBC2 aired 'there's loads to love on BBC2' promo just before the Snooker at 10am, which features the Car 2.

Perhaps it was made by the Simpsons animators rather than the BBC themselves and it was in 4:3 as that was what the show was bring broadcast in at the time? The BBC just put their logo on it and as the show was 4:3 and the ident would never be used for another show, they weren't bothered by it being 4:3.

But as been said a few times now, the BBC are not going to use this for Family Guy, so we don't have to worry about it!

Found this on Twitter - a sign that the 2007 idents may be returning, or just another 'Love' trailer? Also, is that Gill Sans...

EDIT: Ah nevermind, missed the post above.

Appropriately enough, they have absolutely no idea what their current identity is.

Should be quite an easy job for whoever gets the eventual commission to sort out this trainwreck though - improving on what's on display today is an incredibly low bar to hit.
