Can't help but feel these are a stop gap until something new is ready. I imagine any new look is cost sensitive, and maybe dependant on the election result.

I'm fairly sure that everyone is sick of the Windows.

I would have thought this is very appropriate, at the moment Smile

Good to see these stings return. They helped turn the '2' into a character more than the first batch of idents did. Also they're just very good and add to the feel of the channel. The 'Window on the world' stings were rarely shown and the ones based on the 1997 refresh idents are good but there are only a few of them.

I don't mind these idents and stings returning as they just work and still look good. Just keeping adding a few to the set here and there. It'll be cheaper to do than going to South Africa to film Chase.

Some very dodgy stretching of the original material for the Cuckoo Clock sting - the ceiling line should be straight...

Is that how it originally went out though after 1997? Most of the stings were transferred to widescreen for the 1997 refresh, so again it isn't as hard to bring them back today, like the idents used after 1997.

I actually prefer the older idents for the most part and the fact the two wasn't a character. They were more 'arty' and atmospheric than some of the more lighter and comedic later ones. The stings, where the two often was a character, gave a nice contrast to the idents that doesn't work on paper but somehow did in practice.

Then you'd be wrong.

While bringing out all this old pres from retirement is good for nostalgia, it's less consistent than the windows, and it just looks old fashioned. I just wish the windows had more variety, and they hadn't decided to scrap a load of them for no reason (especially chase).

I hope this is just a short term stopgap before something new, interesting and cohesive is launched, but I suspect we will need to wait until the new charter and licence fee settlements are sorted before any significant money will be available for branding.

I'd rather see this than anything from the Windows era.

I like the idents from 1991-2001.

The later ones gave the 2 a bit of character but didn't go overboard. The real character came from the stings. When the robotic 2 came in I wasn't keen as it came across as forced "look at the wacky character" types of idents.

It was more subtle before.
