I don't think I've ever heard anyone refer to the 90's BBC 2 era of idents as being bad, it seemingly gets universally praised, so if they want to use it on a temporary or permanent basis, fine by me! It's probably the best thing they could have done in whatever circumstances they find themselves in, either due to viewer dis-satisfaction at the current look or as a stop-gap before a whole new look is launched.

And Copper Cut-Out put in what I believe is it's first appearance on BBC Two Northern Ireland (since the reintroduction of the 90s idents), at 1.05am. Or has this ident appeared on a previous occasion? I know Network and BBC Two Wales used it briefly last year.

I take it you mean the colour version of Copper Cut Out?

Edit:
I assume the answer to that is yes, as it was shown again at 11am today. No, the colour version of Copper Cut Out had not appeared on NI, on a previous occasion recently, until last night. Network and Wales showed it last year, but, unfortunately, with incorrect proportions. However, Network showed it with correct proportions a couple of times late last year.

Copper Cutout was shown again at 11:00, before the BBC News.

I wouldn't mind at all if these became a permanent fixture on BBC Two. They still look great on screen, not to mention if NI can repaint the whole background on Balloon, they can probably upscale them to HD too Cool

Copper Cut Out reminds me of watching Thunderbirds or Stingray in the early nineties. It's a good ident.

I wonder if NI would be brave enough to show Paper Cut Out. That's if they can find it.

It's good seeing more of the old "2's" brought back again. Just wish the Network would follow suit. That makes Paper Cut Out, Shadow, Water (Reflection version), Crystal Ball and Firecracker still yet to make a comeback in NI. Wonder if there are any plans to bring any of them back?

Firecracker appeared on NI during the Afternoon Classics strand I'm sure (if you're counting that), no idea if a 2015 regular version has been made though?

Maybe because of the such good response from everyone. Probably continuity people too.

We aren't everyone.

So you thought the continuity people loved the Windows?

There are a few more than that. The remaining regular 1991-2001 idents are:

Paper Cut Out
Shadow
Water Reflection
Crystal Ball
Firecracker
Kebab (version 1)
Garden
Doctor Who (Dalek version)
Doctor Who (Exterminate version)

Of course, the Doctor Who idents may be considered as themed idents, but I think I'm right in saying they were both eventually used as regular idents.

Sorry but NI doesn't half look dated using so many of the older idents. Network have got the mix right.

I think the Garden one has been brought back for NI last Summer. I've forgotten about the variations of Kebab and the Doctor Who ones. Maybe they'll look into bringing them back too. I think there is a chance of the Firecracker one being brought back as someone said it was used for the afternoon classics block so it'll most likely be given the 2015 treatment in the next few weeks.

Maybe I misunderstood your post, but, just to be clear, I listed all the remaining idents yet to be aired with the new centralised logo, and irrespective of whether they have been used recently on NI (with other logos) or not.

Indeed, Firecracker was used during the Afternoon Classics block last year.
