One of my criticisms about the Network BBC Two idents from 2015-onwards, is the fact that Silk is the only ident from the 1991 batch of 1991-2001/2014-onwards BBC Two idents in use, the rest are some of the 1993-2001/2014-onwards batch of 1991-2001/2014-onwards BBC Two idents and some 2015-onwards introduced idents.

Impressive coherence with the use of the fonts too

Logo looks good, though. In fact, the trail's quite impressive as a whole.

This might sound like an unpopular opinion, but I think BBC2 should have kept the old set launched in 2007.. I liked it (possibly without the edits), they only should've sorted out the rest of the branding all around them (e.g. the endboards, menus etc; especially the garish colours and the boxes), inc. the launch of some new idents to the set

The fact they've been bringing (much) older idents back IMO is there as an evidence of how BBC has gone downhill branding-wise

Either that or of course a complete refresh

Of course the 90s idents are fantastic and still looking modern, but they are, old..

I agree - the presentation was always a much bigger assault on the eyes than the idents themselves, which though not perfect did the job. I just feel every day the BBC continue to reuse the 90s idents is another day they're stamping on the legacy of them.

The original 2007 endboards were quite classy, much better than the current, 2009 lot.

They had a nasty habit of "retiring" the more inventive ones for no discernible reason.

Don't forget the pointless soundtrack edits towards the end of the run too. I genuinely fear they'll try the same stunt with the Classic 2s on screen now if a rebrand does not prove forthcoming. At that point TVF may have to declare sanctions or something, we have to draw a line somewhere...

I think they both suffered/suffer from trying to shove a piece of video into the shape of a '2'. The 2009 endboards have one positive in this regard as they can show more.

Never really liked either of them as much as what had gone previously, which admittedly was just some text and the logo over the end of the trailer.

They still look modern because they are timeless. I know I'm very much in the minority in feeling this but I'm pleased they are back again after the Christmas period.

NI never originally aired Crystal Ball or the revised edit of Car, so I can't see either ever appearing in Northern Ireland, which leaves Paper Cut Out and Water Reflection. It would be fantastic to have them added to the set in Northern Ireland. I recreated WR a short while ago:
