Sunday night; BBC TWO Network came across a few problems while trying to join the Snooker...Instead, the opening titles to Never Mind The Buzzcocks played, and froze upon reaching the end. The apology caption was displayed for a short time with music played. The display then switched to a still of the Bounce ident's 1st frame as we were told BBC TWO could return to the snooker.

Video (Starts from apology caption w/ music)

I've seen the exact same Bounce still on other occasions aside from faults: As an ident; with no music, and once with the Formation soundtrack playing (??); and also at the end of a morning Ceefax, where I think it had replaced the slide.

Perhaps it is always available to cut to or something; I'm not at all sure.

...and, a minor glitch yesterday (Thursday) during Ready Steady Cook. So brief that I wasn't even completely sure whether it was there while scanning through the video!

Picture was lost for just a moment (well, replaced) but sound remained.

Re: card on the vid, I'm sure I've only seen it in the past with vertical coloured 'strips' at the sides but not without...

I have personally never seen that particular Bounce Still, I have always seen the other one, where the Two looks like it is going to fall over (pictured below)

Perhaps it is like the time we saw the opening still of Capoeira when the system broke down yet, AFAIK, the actual BBC One still is the still of Capoeira where the dancers are doing the handstand. The only thing I could think of is that Bounce was all ready in the playout server but because of the faults there wouldn't be the right time for the junction so just cut to a still of it as opposed to playing it, or perhaps it has all ready been recorded hence why no sound or visual.

Maybe someone else would be able to explain the actual reason as opposed to my guess.
