In addition to these films, BBC TWO is planning a series of idents for Thursday night comedy, radio and TV programme promos, as well as an online competition encouraging people to send in their best gag.

The fact that the aforementioned article states that BBC are 'planning' these new idents hints they may not show up straight away...does anyone know otherwise?
I would have thought there not to be much sense in airing idents after the Thursday Night Comedy had already got underway.
Well, at the time of this post, it's less than 24 hours until it begins. If the idents are still in planning (unknown, as the latest article is dated as just yesterday, while the other containing the same info is from last month) then they won't be revealed until later.

It's so nice to see some different BBC Two idents. I hope this signals the beginning of some more flexibility in BBC Two idents, I really think the current set have become slow and stale - they really don't seem "dynamic" any more, and look out of place introducing programmes such as Malcolm in the Middle. I don't think they give out the right image of the channel any more. These, however, are perfect - interesting and versatile, and slightly cheeky.

TBH I didn't think it was that good, the Promos have been well made with Catherine Tate, Stephen Fry etc, but the ident was nothing much.
I think BBC2's idents are rather well made, but they are starting to become a bit stale now, as there are certain limitations with using the same type of Yellow. It also doesn't help when you look at Channel 4's presentation, fantastic stuff, big, bold and different.

I hope this is the start of a trend and we begin to see the 2 break out of its yellow prison.
The fact that we have these new comedy idents blows Roly Keating's justification for not delivering a Christmas ident last year right out of the water. Roly said he found festive idents hard to justify because of their "limited life span", yet surely these idents have a far more limited shelf-life, being used one night a week for a set number of weeks. Don't forget all those special 2s we had pre-2001, often commissioned for one night only and never seen again.
With any luck Fluffy Dog will encourage BBC2 to take a fresh approach this Yuletide...

Roly's talking rubbish, we should always have new Christmas idents and the fact that BBC1 and BBC2 repeated theirs was unforgiveable. And now we have that Christmas 2 in a block of ice appearing in regular junctions now!! It just seems wrong. The idents are too limiting there is no versatility. The reason why the old 2's worked so well was because it was placed in different situations, like as a venus fly trap, kebab or remote controlled car.

The version before Catherine Tate really made me laugh. I never thought I'd ever see the BBC Two logo trying to hump a dog. Excellent!
