I was at a recording of Dead Ringers on Sunday at TVC, and was in the audience foyer for a short while. They have a couple of widescreen TV's in there, and one was showing at 4:3 image of BBC News 24 stretched. Surely they would be able to get a widescreen image at TVC. If you can't there, then I don't know where you can.

Do you really need to start a new thread for such trivial matters? Can't you have shoved it on the end of the News 24 one or something.

Or maybe it's me being short tempered in the heat Confused

Do you mean Stage Door or the Main Reception?

In Stage Door there are a couple of widescreen plasmas, but they both definately show proper widescreen pictures.

The smaller plasmas in Main Reception are actually 4:3 and everytime I've been through material has been in 14:9 on them.

Having said that, it's an easy mistake to make, especially if they're tuned in on the ring main - there're all 3 versions to choose from of BBC1 and News 24...

Neither. I think they just call it 'The Foyer'. It has the BBC Shop in it.

Ah, I've seen neither of those TV's in the wrong format, but like I said above, it's an easy mistake to make when flicking through channels on the ringmain. I think they're turned on and off every morning/night.

They usually have the volume down and subtitles on them...

If "1" was selected as a channel, that's the analogue 14:9 format, may be it was that stretched out?

Whenever I go in there, I change all of the TVs to show Sky News. If you ever want to do it, just press the "channel up" button below the screen.

Do they not even bother that someone from outside keeps switching their plasmas to a rival news channel?

How much of the show is recorded at TVC on Sunday? A lot of the half hour is filled with segments that you could discribe as non-current affairs, so how long are you there for? and is there additional entertainment that isn't screened?

I don't care, it's funny. You've got BBC logos plastered everywhere, but on every TV screen you've got Mr Murdoch and friends!

They're not plasmas BTW, just normal widescreen TVs.

I'm not the only one though, whenever I am in there, at least one TV is already on Sky News. Anyway, all the workers behind the counter seem to be foreign anyway, so they're none the wiser.

Most BBC channels are broadcast on the internal analogue ringmain in both 4:3 and 16:9 versions - so that people in offices with 4:3 or 16:9 TVs can get the right versions. Given that they are normal TVs in the Foyer I suspect that diners/visitors have just pressed the channel +/- buttons on the TVs to change channel and left them on the wrong "shape" version...

Ahh, but it is one of the only places in the UK where you can see BBC Prime!
