Oy!
Just I hate television trying its fawning best to be film - it's not film it's video, and it's not 'we're filming' a programme, it's 'we're shooting' a programme!
All this film nonsense has crept into colleges especially in an attempt to be something they're not. Even EFP students for studio prod go sauntering about 'oh we're filming a short film for television' - no you're not, you're shooting a bit of video for a VT package you pretentious grrrrrrr.....
Annnyway.... back to the Proms
Absolutely... Personal bugbear of mine as well. It is only going to get more confusing though - as more and more cinema releases are shot on HD (or higher resolution) video cameras rather than physically being shot on film.
(For example, most people would say that they filmed the recent Star Wars movies, or Collateral, but both were shot on video...)
Yes - and when D-CINEMA is common?
The lexicon will have to rest on moderation, but I do agree over "filming", especially when live TV is "filmed" - crass ugh.
