Had I wanted the music, I would, indeed, have gone to Radio 3.
What I actually wanted was EastEnders, but I had to sit through nine minutes of Proms over-run, so had amply opportunity to scrutinise the presentation.

if it annoyed you that much you could always listen to it on Radio 3.

Just I hate television trying its fawning best to be film - it's not film it's video, and it's not 'we're filming' a programme, it's 'we're shooting' a programme!
All this film nonsense has crept into colleges especially in an attempt to be something they're not. Even EFP students for studio prod go sauntering about 'oh we're filming a short film for television' - no you're not, you're shooting a bit of video for a VT package you pretentious grrrrrrr.....

Jesus Christ, Have the Beeb got that idiot again. He spolied the Last Night coverage last year. Why could they not have Terry Wogan like in Eorovision.
Honesty, Why do they not have that female commeator who had been doing the TV and Radio coverage for years. What's her name anyway rather have well known faces doing them.
The next time Alan fronts it, Will he take some shovels, forks and hoes along with some earth to dig the Albert Hall

You never know... Alan presenting the Proms could inspire a new episode of Gordon The Garden Gnome!
Stephanie Hughes was the lady who used to do it that you're thinking of, I believe, and she now does the Radio 3 commentary instead of Radio 3 taking the TV commentary as they did before.
Of course, before her, we had James Naughtie doing it.

The following post is on the BBC Proms Messageboard...
Could 'Lins' be, in fact, our own, dear James Martin - or perhaps he is is an ardent fan of JM's wireless broadcasts? - I think we should be told.

Intrusive, distracting, inane comments, taking up a quarter of the screen. Hmm very clever, not. Woweee, the violin is about to repeat a phrase! Come on BBC, this is music, not a football match.
Even if people are unfamiliar with a peice of music, surely they should be credited with some intelligence & imagination and be allowed an element of anticipation. After all, there were some "cracking tunes" last night. Dear oh dear, oh dear.

I don't know if Mr Lins is Mr Martin, but I see Mr Myner has joined in over there now, as well.

Did anyone see the cockup on BBC Four during this evening's Prom?
Halfway through a piece the screen just freezes and the sound went - this went on for a short while before a BBC FOUR apology slide came up.
Then after a while of sitting in silence and watching a caption we rejoin the Prom, only a little bit further on from where we left it!
Lucky tonight's Prom was on BBC Four and coverage was behind the live Prom by half an hour!
Of course, with it being recorded, and BBC4's continuity also recorded, no verbal apology was made.
Who's going to own up to kicking the plug out?

Absolutely... Personal bugbear of mine as well. It is only going to get more confusing though - as more and more cinema releases are shot on HD (or higher resolution) video cameras rather than physically being shot on film.
(For example, most people would say that they filmed the recent Star Wars movies, or Collateral, but both were shot on video...)
