Is the BBC trying to be ITV?

Because ITV was the wholly regional tv service of yesteryear - ITV are cutting back on regional hours until there will only be a news service left (conditions apply)
WHEREAS
The BBC used to have regional news and the odd regional programme (conditions apply) where the regional output is on the increase and even english regions seem to be opting out of the network schedule for programmes lately!

ITV News used to have some wood in it's studio (prior to the news-wall relaunch) and now the BBC have introduced some wood to some news studios.

I'm sure there are loads more examples!

I think the BBC realise that they have to do it to continue being funded the way the are.

It may also be down to the fact that the technology is available to do it whereas ten/twenty years ago they couldn't offer as many regional/sub-region opts.

As far the studios are concerned - NO. The BBC have had VR studios - so have ITV. The BBC had real wood - so did ITV. Just co-incidental!

I don't think that's the BBC trying to be ITV, more that the BBC has been cajoled into picking up what ITV can't do anymore, because it apparently set in a few years ago that it is seemingly impossible to run a profitable commercial television network with many and full regional obligations. So the buck is passed over to the BBC, because they have no shareholders wanting money dividends.

Point of information: I do understand that you are trying to be ironic to the vice versa thread started a while ago, but I thought I'd make my point anyway.
