The World Studio - No. All you see of the News Centre is looking through some glass panels.

The Weather Centre - You don't get to go in, but you stand outside, and watch a video. There is a square of blue on the wall, and at the end, then turn on a camera, and the people standing in front of the square appear on the screen in front of the weather graphics. You also get to spend some time in the fabulous BBC Shop, where you are encouraged to spend large amounts of money on items that you can get cheaper at MVC.

As you're probably aware - each tour is different depending on where they can take you at the time.

The 1st time I went, looking in the news centre there was a stool in front of us with a camera, we were told news summary’s were going to come from that position shortly. I don’t remember them actually coming form there - perhaps someone will correct me though.
The 2nd time I went it was after the national news from the ‘balcony’ set was introduced in 1999, I remember seeing the camera that took the shots for the backdrop and also thinking how large they made the newsroom look on the backdrop and how small the room really was.

That stool position was the place that Matthew Watsit did the report into BBC 1 last weekend on the football result! It was also used for the 10 trails, ahhh those were the days!
For the record, the tours are great fun. The Guides have lots of info and are funny and you can have a good laugh as well as seeing lots of stuff!
I've worked at telly centre for years and I learnt lots when I 'gate crashed' a tour to heckle the guides! Laughing

Do you not go by CBBC? I would love to go on a tour there but to far away, I went to Granada Studios and got to go on a set made up (not the real) Granada Tonight as it was then with blue sofas i think.

Again it depends on each day but the second tour I was on took us into the Blue Peter garden and at the time CBBC was on air, out tour guide said he would have let us take a look in the studio had he not been scared of the producer that day Confused

The time that I went, we wern't allowed to go into the garden, and had to just look down on it from the BBC Canteen, because the guide said that we would be seen on the CBBC Channel through the glass bricks.
