BBC Tour

Just booked a BBC TVC tour for Sat 2nd June. Does anyone know if anything is being set up/recorded in any of the studios then? We're on the 2pm tour.

I'll have a look at the schedules when I'm next in work, but I'm afraid you'll probably find TVC something of a ghost town that weekend, what with it being the long bank holiday weekend.

You'll probably get to see the old Blue Peter set, which is now on display in the scene store area of the Design Building - but I wouldn't expect to find much going on in the main block studios.

Does there be much at all going on there these days. Sad as I find that. Slightly off topic but why is The Voice at Elstree exactly - I don't see any great reason it doesn't come from TC1. The studio doesn't look that much bigger the way The Voice use it. Maybe it's because Simon Cowell is from Elstree? Hey, I wouldn't put it past Danny Cohen

I want to do this tour myself some time this year. Is there an ideal day to go where the place is busier?

I did the Granada studio tour back in the day while visiting family in Manchester. I know TVC wont be as varied and as exciting.

Completely thinking with my own bias here, but would Saturdays during Strictly Come Dancing season be any good?

Well my personal interest in in the technical side, and the newsroom side of operations.

I did the tour in October 2006 on a Strictly Saturday and the place was crawling with celebrities.

Ok so I will avoid Saturdays then, gotcha!

Do they still give out a free copy of the Radio Times at the end?

I guess weekdays may be best, then. I went with my school many years ago and we went into a room attached to the newsroom. That was on a Monday.

Oh yes, I remember that - we could peer into the newsroom!

It was like a little meeting room next to the elevators. We also went to the BBC experience in the basement of BH - I guess that's all offices now? I'm probably showing my age now.
