Why not just have the IV or IIII as in Roman numerals? After all, the BBC still create copyright dates in this way.

Reminds me of the Dennis Norden joke about everyone referring to It'll Be Alright On The Night Ivy as they'd decided to use Roman numerals for the 4th episode

All long form content was supposed to air on BBC One/Two wasn't it? It annoyed me that Extra Gear never got shown.

Because Extra Gear wasn't long form, that's why. And now they are showing it anyway.

How is longform defined in regard to Three?

I don't know for certain, but longform are the kind of shows you'd have seen when BBC3 was a linear channel, the full-length sitcoms, dramas and docs with a big budget, and shortform are the other bits and pieces that are usually quite short and turn up as and when. This does mean that sometimes there are shortform things longer than longform things. But the obvious way to tell them apart is that longform programmes are all shown on BBC1 and BBC2, of course.

Didn't realise they were still airing any shows on BBC1/2 - they're pretty hard to find in the schedules if they are.

I'm afraid I find it a bit hard to believe you really "didn't realise" given your previous posts in this thread, as they're in exactly the same slots they've been for the past year, with This Country being shown after Match of the Day on Saturdays and American High School on Sundays.

I mean they're not the highest profile slots, but in the Nightly Show thread you're saying it's a shame channels aren't showing stuff late at night, which this is, so...

Hopefully the left aligned BBC part in the logo is gone, and will always be centred from now on.

Next they need to do the same with the CBBC logo alignment. Then let's fix all the other BBC Channels branding

That bumper has been centred, since last time I watched a BBC3 show on BBC1.

I'm sure they showed it last year on BBC2 as well. It's essentially a 30-minute show.

The problem with the current scheduling is there isn't a clear block of programming for viewers to find BBC3 content. The best option is the one they used to mislead viewers during the consultation phase - a block on BBC2 on Sundays from 10pm.

Extra Gear definitely wasn't shown on television last year (if it had been the transmission details would show here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04sxpgq/broadcasts ). However Radio Times noted at the time that it had been scheduled to appear on BBC2, but was pulled at the last minute. I do think it counts as 'long form', though.

I think 'short form' tends to refer to the shorter programmes and sketches that usually get uploaded directly to the BBC3 website or YouTube rather than iPlayer, though it probably also refers to the short documentaries (often around 15-20 minutes) that are on iPlayer but aren't shown on television.

I agree there needs to be a consistent slot for BBC3 shows (Class geting shoved out in a Monday late slot was not good), also there is no consistency in how long it takes them to get shown on television. Sometimes it's a week later, other times it takes months. For example a year ago episodes of Thirteen was shown on BBC2 a week after their BBC3 debut, but this year there is no sign yet of their current big drama, Clique, appearing on air.

I remember Extra Gear disappearing from schedules, thought I'd posted here about it but I can't find it. RTE showed it.

Extra Gear is repeated on Thursday nights at 12:15am on BBC Two.

I do remember seeing Extra Gear being shown on BBC Two from last series for Sunday night repeats from 10pm to 10:30pm.

RTE2 showed Extra Gear from last series on Monday nights over a week after the Sunday night episodes were aired on BBC III.

RTE2 have not shown the new episodes of neither Top Gear or Extra Gear yet like last series. I wonder why.

I don't see why this has to be the case, a consistent slot means ghettoising the content. A Reggie Yates doc from BBC3 went out at 9pm on BBC1 the other month, which was an incredibly high profile slot. The whole point of showing them on BBC1 and BBC2 is to appeal to audiences who wouldn't bother looking for them on BBC3 or a specific BBC3-branded slot.

Don't see the problem with the gap between their screenings either, each show is taken on its own merits and there's no point shoving them on quickly for the sake of it. It was always like this in the days of the linear BBC3 anyway - Johnny Vaughan Tonight was shown two hours after it was on BBC3, Catterick took over a year.

Interesting and deserved. Content wise BBC Three is the strongest it's been in years despite the OTT hysteria surrounding the closure of the linear channel.
