Shows how far we've come. From London 2012 of having every event in HD/SD, to possibly 1 extra channel via DSat/Freeview (maybe 2 if they hijack BBC Parliament again) for this year.
I fully expect regular and repeated plugs to go to the website, or the BBC Sport app to find everything during Rio 2016
Bit of a difference though when we're not the host country, to be fair.

It's hardly the reason things have gone backwards though/

Here's my dodgy recreation of something that's in the current issue of Private Eye:

It is a consideration though. It's a lot cheaper to get the 50+ HD feeds from London to Salford than it is Rio to Salford.

Satellite will be down but on Freeview we only had 1.5 streams IIRC, less than for Athens 2004. Assuming 602/603 are available again and BBC Parliament Freeview could have 4 extra streams this year.
IIRC the massive amount of Astra capacity was given to the BBC by Sky (who reduced their Box Office service down to a skeleton over that period) wasn't it?

Yes - Sky and the BBC did a deal (which I think ended up with Sky gifting the capacity for the HD and SD Olympic channels) for London 2012.
Something I have noticed on the TV Forum is that one of the calendar dates are wrong. It says that BBC Three will end it's "Broadcast Service" on 31st of January... I hope its not anyone like Anthony Collins or cbbcfan... I hate those both.

It's been highlighted in the TV Forum thread in Websites.
Though to be fair BBC3 as we knew it probably came to an end about 18 months ago. What remains of the broadcast channel has long been a fraction of it's former self.
