I say just bring back BBC Choice - the Beeb has a lot of money to burn, so I don't see why Choice and Three couldn't run concurrently.
I don't think the BBC has the money to burn running two channels which have near enough the same audience demographic. Like saying why not resurrect the bones of BBC Knowledge or even BBC Select.
I can already tell that the new Three will be a gigantic flop, so bringing back Choice could be a good stop-gap while they fix Three's inevitable problems.
This multi-platform, user generated rubbish though puts me off - and a clear sign they're more interested in the people not watching TV than the people who actually do watch BBC3.
As a viewer I've no interest in seeing other viewers introduce programmes - and I think that element probably won't last too long!
Most interesting thing there is about 60 seconds becoming "World News" or something. Are they restoring a nightly bulletin, or just revamping 60 seconds to tell news through the perspective of other news channels.
That was one aspect of the BBC Three News which worked really well IMO - using news coverage from around the world to explain what's happening around the world. It was innovative, different and for fans of TV pres, quite interesting too.
Not sure about the first one. There seem to be a lot of different elements to this new look - the 'pipes' extending from the 'three' of the logo; the random imagery of the idents; the little action figures in the idents and on the website, as well as the circular 'portal' theme in the trailers. I guess the circle in the trailers could be the entrance to one of the 'pipes' of the logo? Either way it will be interesting to see how it all comes together.
Looks like there's more to come from the blobs, yet:

BBC3 controller Danny Cohen said the blobs would go out on a high, with a series of six new idents which will see the little characters singing goodbye songs.

Spending money on new idents for a channel about to be rebranded. I wished BBC Two did that, with the "Dominoes" ident, and them all finally toppling over.
