I see what you mean.
However I do think that the logo is a nice change, and I was getting sick of that blue, and the blobs surroundings, but surely they could have just put the blobs into the new world of three, or whatever term they're using.

Don't they refer it to being 'threedom' or was that the old brand? The blobs were iconic, its a shame they didn't introduce them into the new idents, they would have worked IMO, refreshing the brand.

Indeed they would have. They didn't get a refresh in 5 years, and then instead of one they got rid.

As for threedom, isn't that the tagline that they used at Christmas... 'Escape to Threedom'?

This cropped up during the titles of The Real Hustle a couple of nights ago, just after one of the viewer submitted intros.

Goodlass and Marshall, what's that?

05/03/08? By 'a couple of nights' do you mean just over a week? Laughing

Sorry if either of those are obvious.

I'm not one to moan about DOGs for the sake of it, but watching Gavin and Stacey tonight, probably the first thing I've watched on BBC3 since the revamp, the DOG really is intrusive - and in several scenes it was smack bang over the actors face as they were speaking.

The pink doesn't help, but really here it's the old argument that the DOG should be bottom right, not top left!

I agree, watching Eastenders tonight, the dog kept attracting my attention, and annoying me! Its surely the fact that its a vibrant and 'in your face' pink. Why can't they just make it translucent?

If you watch the viewer clips, the names of the people in them are shown top left - Goodlass and Marshall appear in one.

I'm presuming the date is from when it was recorded as the frame shown above appeared very briefly on the 14th - ' a couple of nights ago'. Wink

Ah, it all becomes clear. That sounds ridiculous.

Cheers.

Dear Andy

Thank you for your email.

I understand you find the new BBC Three to be distracting. (I said the DOG, not the whole channel)

I was sorry to read that this has affected your enjoyment of programmes. Our BBC
logo's work to make sure our channels stand out from others and are appealing to
their target audiences on TV and online. The colour pink was chosen for BBC
Three because it is warm, vibrant and an alive colour to match the channel's
image.
( Pink is vibrant?? )

We are aware that this logo is brighter than other BBC logos but, our digital
competitors use bright logos and colour for their on screen branding and in with
lots of digital channels, we feel it is important to ensure viewers could
quickly identify they were watching BBC services. As the number of channels
grows, this branding aspect is likely to become increasingly significant.
(Right, so just because other channels are jumping off a bridge, we'll do it too)

We do value feedback of this kind as it is a useful part of the monitoring
process we constantly undertake and I would like to assure you Andy that we have
registered your complaint on our audience log. This is the internal report of
audience feedback which we compile daily for all programme makers and
commissioning executives within the BBC, and also their senior management. It
ensures that your points, and all other comments we receive, are circulated and
considered across the BBC.

Thank you once again for taking the time to contact the BBC.

Regards

Barry Graham

There you have it, it's deliberately pink to stand out, no chance of them making it unintrusive Rolling Eyes

Have BBC Three got another announcer now? He sounds familiar but I can't pin-point where.
EDIT: Just realised he used announce on Dave, and he's on BBC Radio 1, Greg James his name is.

So they'll keep trying to 'outbright' each other?
