"It's still ace"? I despair. That alone stops me from reading the article further.

As predicted, the BBC's overall TV viewing figures dropped due to the closure of BBC Three. Between the closure of BBC Three and Euro 2016, viewing figures dropped by 8%. ITV2 and E4 are the main benefactors - while both have gained consistently excellent ratings, ITV2 benefits more from the closure of Three, thanks to Family Guy and American Dad!.

You'd think that the BBC would retain the rights to older episodes, but the budget isn't there for BBC Three Online, and newer episodes flopped instantly on BBC Two, in comparison to Three, hence why older series now air on ITV2.

It's a sad state of affairs however, because BBC Three was such a great channel to watch. There is a huge hole left in the linear TV space after Three died out. ITV2 and E4, as good as they are, just don't match up to what BBC Three was, unfortunately. ITV2 has only just about started to improve its content after Be's launch.

With the move online however, it's starting to rid BBC Two of its identity crisis, and provide it with a steady stream of Three content. And it's nice to see the BBC take risks with short form content, possible after the death of the linear channel. As a whole, I'm quite divided over this subject.

Edit: to clear up confusion over the figures, I didn't predict the exact percentage, just that it was about the how the BBC would lose viewers following the closure/online move of Three.

I'd love to know how much of that 8% is made up of people who watched Family Guy on BBC Three who are now watching Family Guy on ITV2 instead. A fair chunk I would intuitively expect.

So... when was it that you (or someone/anyone) predicted that specific percentage drop during that specifically-defined period?

I didn't predict the percentage at which BBC viewing figures would drop, but rather how the BBC would lose viewers to channels like ITV2 and E4.

Class launched today, but there's no subtitles due to a technical fault. From Gallifrey Base:
