"Then" - does that mean they have dropped the silly "Next" that makes it sound like the programme is coming on after the break?

I think that happened a few weeks ago, thankfully. Now if only FX could do the same - they use 'Next' to announce the programme that's about to start in the ident introducing it. As I believe most here would agree, 'Next' is always the programme that follows the one that's on - or just starting.

When I hear "Next on Three, it's Family Guy", I take that to mean that the programme about to start is Family Guy. When they then go "But first, here's Eastenders", it just sounds odd.

I think it's down to which channel you're watching: for example on ITV, they used to have 'Next' animations before a commercial break to tell you the programme that's on after that break.

On BBC Three, though, as there's no break as such and the 'Now, Next, Later' graphic immediately precedes a programme, 'Next' refers to the programme after the one that's about to start - so 'Next So-and-so, but first this' seems right.

BBC Three - http://www.theidentgallery.com/player.php?id=BBC3-2007-XMAS-NEXT-1

FX manage to get 'Now' and 'Next' for the same programme in one ident - http://tiggo.at/?CF0H2

They really need to change the BBC Three DOG to white/grey like the other channels - no need for it to have that horrible pink.

Don't worry - for a presentation site, you can't have enough screen caps of, well, presentation!

Ariel finally noticed it was 60 Seconds' birthday, and have run a little feature about it:

(Featuring a pic of NickyS, no doubt getting weary at the photographer telling him "just one more shot", then proceeding to take about fifty more)

Did anyone catch today's points of view. It was an interview special with Zai Bennett who didn't really answer the viewers questions imo. What did you think?

For example, two questions related to the 'next/later' programme strap, and the channel DOG, both of which he dismissed saying that the target audience for the channel are used to seeing straps and dogs on other networks. It didn't really answer why BBC Three specifically do it, instead it is an answer similar to 'they do it, and that's why we do it too'.

I thought so too, basically he's referring to ITV2 and E4. Yes they do it, but they have a commercial interest to retain their audience. And they don't do it half as horribly as BBC Three does.

I also found it astonishing he'd never seen Click (thought I was perplexed they put that question to him, as it's a programme that would be more suited to BBC Two).
