I guess they have to be close together as there won't be a huge choice in camera positions that still allow a decent shot of both reporter and No. 10 front door.

Just because Sky, BBC News 24 (who may have a separate crew and link), CNN etc aren't live at the same time - they are probably still set up for lives on such an important subject. So the space is still probably at a premium.

It is quite common to hear Adam Boulton and Nick Robinson getting into each others sound on News 24 / Sky.

BBC News (bbc one and two) should merge with news 24

So when bbc 1 show a bullitin, BBC news 24 shows it too.

Also the 10 bullitin should be 2 presenters, peter sissons and micheal burke, perhaps...

the news at 1 should come from the n24 studio, and the 6 should be the most active

But BBC news on 1 & 2 and n24 are two totally different types of news. n24 is rolling news but BBC news bulletins are detailed summaries of the news so far.

I don't think 1 and 2 make much of an effort to be different as it is- whenever a development in the war occurs or there is a news special, BBC TV on terrestrial just gets lazy and hands over to n24. Basically a closedown in disguise! I can't imagine ITV ****
ing off to the ITN News channel for every news special

A waste of licence payers money to have 2 different sets of newscasters presenting exactly the same news on 2 different BBC channels. Both News 24's bulletins and BBC One's network news programmes give detailed summaries of the day's news so far.

I certainly agree that the One O'Clock, 6 O'Clock and 10 O'Clock News should be shown on both BBC One and N24.

N24 could move their sports and business bulletins to be shown during the duration of the 3 main news bulletin on BBC One and Newsnight on Two as well as the present station.

Although N24 is a rolling news network, surely it's not asking a lot for the station to move away from that just for 3 bulletins also shown on BBC One. It would give N24 some much needed higher viewing figures as well if simulcast.

In any case the 2 channels simulcast 8 hours a day including breakfast programme and also several hours for all major world developments.

If some breaking news happened on the simulcast 6 O'clock news, it would alter the primetime schedule on BBC One. But at present the 6 O'Clock News on One is often extended anyway without simulcast with any other channel, and many times the evening schedule is disrupted. So what's difference anyway if the 6 O'Clock News was shown on both channels.

And what was the point of N24 being created in the first place if it wasn't intended to be the channel on the BBC where you watch the news once the analogue signal is switched off. Newsnight, Panorama, 6 O'Clock News etc will all be on N24 in a few years time, because everybody will be watching digital TV and the station will be free to air to watch whenever you want. Face facts. There will be no network news programme on BBC One in the years ahead.

I dont agree

I think there will always be a need for news summaries on BBC One afterall the BBC itself has said it will not be turning BBC One into a purely entertainment based channel.
