I don't know people are so afraid to start threads here. I have already seen talk of this in the BBC One and BBC Two HD threads for some reason.

Anyway. four programmes are on/have been on this evening.

The One Show on BBC One which was live from Television Centre
Madness Live: Goodbye Television Centre
Goodbye Television Centre
Richard Thompson: Goodbye Television Centre

It is a shame that The One Show couldn't have been on for an hour or even an hour and a half this evening. Coronation Street wasn't on ITV[1] so BBC One could have put EastEnders on half an hour later without too many issues.

I'm not really sure how the Madness concert fits in to BBC Four's Goodbye to Television Centre week, it's just a Madness concert that happens to be live from BBC Television Centre. Great if you are a Madness fan and actually quite entertaining even if you are not but I don't think it's relevant to what BBC Television Centre has been doing for the last 50+ years. It would have been more relevant to show some old programmes from the BBC archive or even just clips. However good this Madness concert is, it could have waited until next week and could have come from anywhere. Although it did give us "the last ever apology for strong language from BBC Television Centre" (in caption form) so that's good.

It was mentioned elsewhere that Goodbye Television Centre programme should have been on BBC One rather than on BBC Four. I would rather see quite a nerdy programme about BBC Television Centre made for BBC Four rather than one that has had to be made suitable for BBC One. Hopefully I won't be disappointed.

It would make sense, although some people don't really think about the studios, They just expect television to be there!

Well that's my theory anyway.

Anyway there is just one last thing to say

Goodbye Television Center!

A couple of 'Street Views' have been added to Google Earth inside TV Centre - one of a studio, and another within the doughnut.

So who was it that used strong language? I'm guessing it wasn't Suggs!

The whole evening could have quite easily been shown on BBC 2 this weekend, on either Saturday or Sunday evening.

End of an era in the BBC's history then. The BBC4 tribute was great, entertaining and moving! Crying or Very sad

A typical foul mouthed chav then. Even Auntie should know it isn't wise having brain dead morons like that on a
pre-watershed live broadcast event, especially one that's as significant as the swansong for Television Centre.

Danny Baker was livid, Terry Wogan couldn't understand it and Noel Edmonds consulted his spiritual guide to wonder what the future for the BBC would be?

Some great memories but television hasn't died.. providing it evolves, providing it keeps up with what the audience want.. I think... I think it could go on forever.
