I remember Going Live and (until recently) Live & Kicking coming from 'Studio 7' - the presenters always used to tell everyone! Is this not the same as TC7?

Yeah think so, I think Live And Kicking is coming from scotland studios now, as the summer program usually does, but they are keeping it as live and kicking because, the last two shows (L + K, and FBi) have both fallen apart and they are keeping on with L + K while they design a new programme?(I expect thats it, its mostly my own shoddy guess work, i don't see much of them these days having work.....)

Hangon, if TC7 / N7 is a samllish studio, how come (if what i've read is true)

Newsround is in there and used every weekday
Working lunch is in there as is used every weekday

and Breakfat is in there everyday

and breakfast seems BIG

as far as i can tell there are quite a few sections

THE MAIN DESK / tv's
moira's bit (with new moving backdrop which has abvoiusly been rigged up)
the comfy leather sofa
the two chaira ala tanya
the little bit where there is no furniture and the stand ever so often

and a couple of questions

why on the TV screens in the bbc newsrooms are there only ever BBC broadcasts (i saw the big breakfast ad break the other day in westminster mind you)

and

do you think that breakfast should have some music playing it out, maybe on friday at five to nine, i think it would be good.

You forgot that 'Newsnight' is also in there, as well as 'Frost' and 'On the Record' at the weekend.

It's all done with a lot of scene shifting.

Maybe someone can tell us how long each programme takes to rig.

I think they use camera tricks. That´s what they say when you go to the Rosie O'Donell studio at NBC Studios in Rockefeller Center.

TC7 is only a small-ish studio in TV Centre terms. When compared to other studios (say a BBC region for example) it is plenty big enough

(I think TC7 is pretty similar to TC2 (which is 3500 ft2). This compares with a regional studio (600-1000 ft2))

The reason TC7 can host so many different shows, all with substantial sets, is that there are significant gaps (of the order of an hour or two) between programmes.

This allows the set for one show to be de-rigged and removed from the studio floor, and the set for the next one to be brought in and rigged in its place. This is done every day and is a lot cheaper than having a separate studio for every programme!

TC7s sets are designed to be struck daily, unlike the main News set in N6, which is a permanent rig.

Just for info, Swap Shop, SuperStore, Going Live! and L&K all used TC7. L&K moved over to TC6 from the start of series 5 (1997) and continued to use it until the programme 'moved' to Glasgow in April.
