Anyone know what the first track on the Radio 2 emergency DAT is? Because I think they've just fallen into it...

Yes, it seems very "DAT-ish" with the songs being faded out completely before the next one starts. I've never heard them play the Backstreet Boys though on Radio 2 - god, this song is years old! Laughing

Ceefax on 2 for another 20 Minutes...only got about 15 secs of Bounce Sombre into it, nothing special.

This "Bart" track that's playing, how long is it going to go on for? I don't think it will change...

Looks like my wish was partly granted when I hoped for Bart to be played over an apology caption! Back-to-back Bart, eh? Every anorak's dream Smile

Track suddenly stopped, giving way to 25 seconds seconds of silence. And 25 seconds of silence on a BBC station usually means the emergency DAT tape will kick in.

I thought it had for a moment - Avalon by Roxy Music, then into As Long As You Love Me by the Backstreet Boys of all people. Sounded very much like an old emergency DAT.

It's difficult enough regaining control when it switches to emergency DAT - so getting it back during a BBC strike at 2 in the morning could have been very interesting!

Well I'm certain it used to be the Cars, but yes quite clearly it's Roxy Music now. Both equally bland.

Mind you last time Janice fell off I remember they played a v familiar jolly breakdown theme with pan pipes.

Aww, she's back. No weather centre chat it seems [unsurprisingly].

I wonder if Alex will come in more through loyalty to Janice? Anything but Tim Smith.

She just can't drive very well, bless her. Dipping the songs way too much when she talks.... unless she normally does that? Do hope not!

She does normally do that, but I think the fact she's got no proper producer and is having to use a different system is going to her head. As I write, she's dipping the fader as though she's lost control of her arms.

Too right!. In the clip you can hear where she does not fade herself up enough and the song down.

Easy on the faders, love. Laughing

EDIT: And it seems to be falling apart on the Janice Long show - #1 #2

Is there not some sort of rule in radio that you should not pull a song from playing once its already started? Confused

With Chris Rogers presenting the news on Five Live, that's gotta be hurting his credability with ithers in the industry, surely he would be in the NUJ?

I swear the first program on the Learning Zone was shown only about a week ago...

Also, what was with the noise at the end of the closing 2 ident? Not part of the soundtrack, I don't think. Probably was feedback or something

For now, goodnight.

BBC 2 Scotland joined Pages from Ceefax VERY abruptly. As soon as the credits for the late-night finished we were straight into Ceefax without an ident, mid-way through Bart.

although there was a noise as Bounce faded out, which sounded like mic feedback or something...

Lineup tone wasn't it?

Can we merge the two threads, there's talk about BBC Radio 2 in both threads?
