As if The ONE for Drama wasn't enough in April 2004, we now have another sting, which the BBC seem to love, being shoved down our throats all the time. I know that there is a poverty campaign going on at the moment, but that Africa Lives on the BBC sting is being played at least once at every single juntion on BBC1 and BBC2. On BBC1 at the 7pm junction, it was played 3 times. It's starting to get ridiculous now, and I wish the BBC would consider axing it pretty soon.

I don't expect it to be axed - I just hope it wraps up pretty soon, as yes, it does get a bit annoying when 2 back-to-back trailers have the same "Africa Lives, On the BBC". I think we all realized some time ago that it lives on the BBC, so will you please ease up on the showings, BBC?

And darn, the full trailer plays as I type!

In the breakfiller during the ads on BBC World we see and ad with sting of "africa Lives on the BBC" rather annoying cos we see it about 4-5 times in a minute. and at the top of the hour we get an ad with sting. but the docos will be good viewing.

What I find more irritating is not so much the trail, but the amount of royalties paid to the participants (ie. Hugh Quarshie) every time it's shown.

The trailer doesn't even make sense. I mean how on earth can a continent live on a television company? Very Happy

I hardly think he will be making a fortune out of it.

I presume the title was chosen because most of the time africans are on TV they are dying of hunger, AIDS, malaria, war, etc. The whole point of the season is to provide a positive counterbalance to these usual images of Africa.
