Remind me where do we apply for SPOTY audience tickets, is it Applause store?

I don't think so as I'm sure they're being sold rather than given away for free.

Can't see it going to Jess Ennis if I'm honest, if she had decided to go for the individual hurdles event like everyone encouraged her to rather then settle for that one gold then maybe she would have been in with a shout. I think the favourite is probably going to be Andy Murray.
Personally I think there should be 2 SPOTY awards, one for the olympic/paralymics and one for elsewhere.

£50 + a booking fee - not even some cheap seats ala the Olympics.

Perfectly reasonable fee, any loss on the Excel hire and kit out would be painful for the BBC to take. Reasonable fee for a night out in London too, Size is very important this year, and the guest list great.

Am I right in thinking BBC SPOTY is a commercial production? I don't mean adverts on TV but it used to be sponsored by Robinson's I think, or was it Lucaszade?

I'm guessing it was produced as BBC Worldwide event, and BBC TV were simply the broadcast partner?

Shortlist announced - surprised they didn't milk a special out of it really rather than hide it in The One Show.

Don't worry - plenty of milking it out and padding on the 16th. According to the programme information page on the BBC Press Office website, the show will run from 7.30 - 10.05pm.

Must be the longest show in it's history.
Even 'back in the day' of it still being called 'Sports Review xx' - it was always around 2 hours, and a gripe of mine was that the bloopers (or funnies) vt was used as the under-run filler. The amount of years I was dissapointed when it went off the air when it was dropped to make up time - even watching the Christmas Eve afternoon BBC Two repeat to see if they re-edited back in again.

Anyway, I could start an argument that the title is totally misleading (particularly if Andy Murray wins it because he doesn't have one) in that the award isn't actually based on personallity, but achievement. It should be named 'BBC Sports Achievement Of The Year'...

..but I won't.
