Scotland seem to have a bigger push to Nation brand EVERYTHING. It doesn't work at all with these new graphics.
That seems to be generally true of
everything
in Scotland. Such as the animal charity that specifically insists on expressing its name as "Scottish SPCA" rather than abbreviating that first word to a mere initial "S". There's seemingly pretty much no company/organisation (etc) in Scotland that doesn't have "Scotland" or "Scottish" prominently shoehorned into its name.
Maybe they're a nation of amnesiacs who need to be constantly reminded which country they're in?
BBC Sport reshowed in full one of the opening day of the Premier League games from 15 Aug 1992 to mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of the competition this afternoon (Sheff W - Man Utd). The first PL MoTD is to be shown at 2200 tonight on the Red Button.
I will hazard a guess that the nations were supplied with graphics that just had the 'one' logo, and have taken it upon themselves to change them to add the Wales / Scotland / NI and BBC logo. They need to be stricter with stuff like this - it's bad for the brand and a waste of time and energy.
Incidentally, have always thought NI to be the most vicious in pushing their nation brand - BBC News NI looks particularly ugly on the titles of Newsline, and looking at the special BBC Newsline Weather twitter account (a strange combination of brands), they still call out for weather photos to be emailed to them rather than using WeatherWatchers like everyone else!
Speaking of their odd twitter presence, they bizarrely run a BBC Newsline account alongside a BBC News NI account, both of which seem to post the exact same things.
It seems like they are testing the waters for having "one" and "TWO" box logos for BBC 1 and 2 when the (hopeful) re-brand comes next year. Hopefully they get replaced with something nicer or they push the '2' symbol for BBC 2 at least. Looks a lot better then TWO in a box and ties in nicer with BBC II!.
Testing the waters? Why. BBC One (presentation wise) is a load of dog **** at the moment. Crappy CAs, Crappy Idents, Crappy Branding, Crappy Consistancy.
The whole of the BBC needs a shot of confidence, right in the veins. Bring in some bold confident content, along with refreshed branding, and something more elegant for junctions and output.

UTV does the same.
Presumably this is a bit of a hangover from when UTV was independent - I guess it would also have tweeted about upcoming programmes etc, but now leaves that to the ITV feed?
