Yes. Not all channels even have a HD version, so I don't believe that last sentence.

You don't believe me? You're assuming I watch *all* channels if so. I don't. I only watch BBC One, BBC Two, BBC News, BBC Four and Channel 4. Very occasionally ITV if it's for sport. All are HD.

Still, there's a lot of people still watching the SD versions.. you can't just ignore in order to have a slightly (very so, in the case of a 16:9 safe area) larger space for graphics

Most flat screens still default to overscan simulation being present on HD channels, and some displays still don't make it easy to defeat it.

Some Full HD panels will only allow you to run with no overscan with 1080i or 1080p sources, and don't allow removal of overscan for 720p or 576i/p sources.

This becomes an issue once you throw 720p iPlayer into the equation... (The iPlayer BBC dog isn't 16:9 gfx safe ISTR - and is often cropped on some displays)

Has there always been a touchscreen in the BBC Sport studio - I've never noticed it before but even only watching in passing I've seen it used a fair bit in both Football Focus and Match of the Day?

Well, they haven't "always" had it, but yes, they have been using a touchscreen before.

EA sponsor the Premier League stats for all broadcasters don't they? That said can't recall it appearing beside the table before.

Yes, it did.

They've been using it just now on MOTD2 and occasionally go full-screen with what the touchscreen is showing, controls visible and all. For a little while I thought it was actually being controlled off-screen by someone as the UI kept popping up on the right-hand side but the presenter wasn't touching anything - turns out one of the pundits on the opposite side was doing all the controls which I suppose is a vaguely interesting thing!

It was new yesterday.

What on earth does that TWO NI look like without the BBC.

Not good at all! Sad

I'm really not keen on how small the BBC logo is above Sport.

I like the idea of just putting 'One' or 'Two' in these tiny boxes on cross-channel promos - looks neater - but it's never going to work if nations insist on applying their branding on literally everything.

See also some of these efforts from last week:

And this from BBC Scotland:

Scotland seem to have a bigger push to Nation brand EVERYTHING. It doesn't work at all with these new graphics.

It seems like they are testing the waters for having "one" and "TWO" box logos for BBC 1 and 2 when the (hopeful) re-brand comes next year. Hopefully they get replaced with something nicer or they push the '2' symbol for BBC 2 at least. Looks a lot better then TWO in a box and ties in nicer with BBC II!.

I think they can just about get away with the black nation strip in the BBC Sport box, but it doesn't work at all on the channel logo box - I get the need for distinction sometimes but viewers in Scotland are not going to assume they need to change to Sky Channel 972 or whatever it is for an English region feed to see Sportscene!

Incidentally, have always thought NI to be the most vicious in pushing their nation brand - BBC News NI looks particularly ugly on the titles of Newsline, and looking at the special BBC Newsline Weather twitter account (a strange combination of brands), they still call out for weather photos to be emailed to them rather than using WeatherWatchers like everyone else!

When BBC Newsline is over, we have the BBC Newsline caption, BBC Newsline DOG, BBC News red box and the (C) BBC MMXVII all on the screen at the same time. BBC Overload!
