This is exactly how I feel about it. We don't need the mention on screen of the regions name. Put it under the logo in the ident if you really want and have the CA's say the region name, but for trailers/promo slides a standard "one" or "two" logo should just be used unless the trailer/promo slide is for a region specific programme in which case the region branding can be used if desired.
UTV's Facebook page still is UTV Northern Ireland. Is there a UTV Scotland or UTV London? Why does it still even need to have the Northern Ireland identifier after the name. It isn't referred to as such on screen.
But that was a technicality to differentiate it from the main UTV channel as a (what turned out to be) much watered down version of it. It doesn't even exist anymore anyway, and UTV is a brand that is/was only ever used in NI/ROI so before UTV Ireland even came about it was still UTV Northern Ireland on Facebook which I found rather odd.
I think the argument for continuing to use the nations branding is stronger in Scotland and Wales where there are areas which can receive multiple versions of BBC One and Two so it's important to qualify which version anything which isn't on the network schedule refers to, then for consistency it makes sense to brand everything that way.
In NI the geography means that argument is less valid, however I'm more than happy for NI to keep doing its own pres, they are consistently good at showing others how it should be done.

I'm increasingly amazed in this new age of centralisation that BBC Nations pres remains in house, and 'local'.
There must be huge internal pressure to move it all to Ericsson in W12 ?

.... and considerable political pressure from the Nations to maintain the status quo. Whilst Nationalism remains a potent force, the BBC wouldn't dare do this.

I'm not suggesting 'Nations Pres' would be disposed of, just <cough> centralised. After all, the transmission feeds are all routed via Southern England, no one seems worried by that !
Centralising would bring the wrath of the devolved administrations down on the Corporation, a presence needs to be maintained within the Nations concerned, even if the tech backbone of the operation is routed through London.

I doubt whether any politicians would even register or understand the BBC Nations pres being outsourced. The important thing is, is that production remains firmly in the nations, with Glasgow's nice glass box, Cardiff's nice glass box currently under construction, and I'm sure very soon Belfast's glass box plans to be announced

There was talk of centralising some parts of playout but only the backend functions like the storage of programmes.
The distribution of the nations various channels is all centralised along with the English equivalents

Could be because of a foreign station then? If UTV was already taken...
