Well, aside from you can't select differant cams, there's no differance Cat ...

Aside from the BBC offering being 1, In widescreen   2, a damn sight easier to use,  and 3, a damn sight quicker!

Thank god you can press 0 to get rid of all the on-screen garb.

I agree with this - Sky Sport Interactive is rather cumbersome, and it takes a long time to load, especially if you're watching a crucial match!

I just wish Sky would put it in Widescreen, like they do on SS1 - but I can't see it happening. It looks dreadful on my 32' screen.

Mind you, you could also hope they put Enterprise in Widescreen tomorrow, but I can't see that happening either.

BTW, if you're a trekkie - make sure you watch Enterprise. I've seen the first 10 or so, and it's very very good.

BBCi has several key advantages over Sky Sports active..

- widescreen for everything
- you can get rid of all the menus if you want
- THREE audio options (normal TV, 5 Live (which also gets round the annoying 'trying to watch TV and listen to the radio with the half-second time delay' problem) and crowd noise)
- You can call up stats without reducing the picture to quarter screen
- You can choose the stats you want without having to wait for the Astons to roll round like they do on the sky system
- You can swap the screens around between Live/Highlights
- It does seem faster
- It looks much 'cleaner'

Says the man from BBCi...

I don't think the BBC version is much easier to use at all, the menu vanishes on some screens and makes flicking through the options a pain in the arse. I don't think Fanzone - my favourite Sky Sports feature - exists...

The Sky version is much easier to use, with teams stats and information and the design is much more friendly to my paws.

Rob - god forbid you don't like something the BBC do. The world would be thrown into panic and confusion at the thought of you ever being impressed by something another company does.

Hahaha - such cynicism C@t ...

I honestly prefer the BBC version for useability.

There's stuff on SSE that I just never use, like fanzone, playercam ... etc etc ... it's all too distracting from watching the game.

The Sky version admittedly looks better ... but then looks aren't everything.

And, disappearing menus? Hasn't happened to me yet. Been using it all the game, and not a thing has buggered up. Sure your box isn't on the blink?

Actually, one observation - it could do with the team sheet somewhere on it.

My Dad can't work out which one is better. He said it was nice not to have so much clutter on the screen and the commentary options are useful. The only things he's missing on BBC's service of Sky's are the camera options and playercam!

Cynic? Moi?

Anyway, if I ever do use the interactive sports services then I'll only do it for teams info and perhaps highlights. Fanzone is good and it's a great feature, but after a while you just want to listen to someone with a brain and I normally end up turning back to the match.

If I am watching a football match on TV then that is all I want to do. As nice as it is to have little add ons like this, at the end of the day I want to watch the game. I really don't care about posession because if I've been paying enough attention to the match then I'll already be able to make a fair prediction.

Do you think the World Cup will be interactive? If it was in the UK, I don't think there would be any doubt, but with it in Asia, it's highly unlikely we'll be able to choose camera angles, with footage coming from an external source, although highlights and stats would be possible

Interesting point... The BBC sent a team out to Germany specially to cover the Germany vs. England game in September, with widescreen but it was a little before the interactive stuff took on so they might have done that as well.

Whether they will go to the expense of doing the same for the whole world cup - well, only they will know at this time.
