BBC South West weather.... from London!

BBC1 viewers in the South West and Channel Islands were treated to a weather forecast from London from Darren Bett just before the end of Spotlight this evening. Unfortunately, due to there being no widescreen broadcast facilities in Plymouth, it was rather horribly cropped with the bar at the bottom of the screen being half chopped off...

The forecast was almost up to the usual South West standard, tide times were present, but no surf conditions and as it was from London, no local child's weather picture at the end....

Did any other region get a local forecast from Darren during their local news? If not, I wonder why either David (Braine) or Craig (Rich) were unavailable tonight?

(Also, slightly off topic, but worth mentioning, a special Sports programme will be going out at 7pm on Wednesday, so BBC1 South West will be opting out of Bargain Hunt!)

I think just Wales and possibly Scotland and Northern Ireland take Bargain Hunt. All the English regions have their own Sports Personality programme.

As regards the south-west and a weather forecast from London, this often happen on a Monday. David obviously isn't available and Craig's probably in South Africa for his long Christmas break.

As does Wales, Mr Harvey.

Except they've decided to spend a bit more money and devote the whole of this evening to it.
