Before the most recent Tunbridge Wells (and I guess BBC London) launch delay I had heard that BBC London was going to initially retain the current look and name Newsroom South East, before re-launching. I don't know if this is still the case now that the split looks delayed until September.

I wouldn't be surprised if the new London programme looks a little different to the rest of the BBC branded English regional programmes. It will be interesting to see if they retain a 'Window on the World' backdrop, and if they do what it is of...

(I personally think that the new region has to be careful not to concentrate completely on London - as it is watched at least as far west as Reading... And certainly has a large audience outside the M25.... Then again - London Plus is a good name!)

I seriously doubt that London Live will NOT be corporate. They've forced all of the other regions to go corporate (and rightfully so imho) and i think it would really piss some of the other regions off in London Live could get it's own look. Other regions then might want to break away. I don't really like the London Live motif anyway - it's kind of cheesy. I dunno.

Yes, but if you apply that argument to BBC Local Radio, why isn't London Live written in gold writing with a red backdrop?

I think when GLR was dropped (and the Local Radio network standardised), the BBC had in mind a family of London-based media - TV, radio, internet. The website was the first local area BBC website, and since then many have sprung up (Oxford, Southampton, Newcastle, Devon, Norfolk...)

I will be very surprised if the new look LL programme does not fit in neatly with the already existing radio station and internet site - it would look out of place and would really have no right to be called 'London Live'

I think that BBC News branding should take priority over BBC London Live branding; it would seem odd to have all BBC News bulletins, from regional news right up to BBC World news, sharing a common look...except for London Live.

Also, although I can understand the London Live tri-media idea, it's bound to get a little confusing having a television programme and a radio station with the same name. I would personally prefer it to remain as Newsroom South East as not all of us who will receive it live in London!!

A radio identity is no where near seen as much as the look of a television programme. How many people actually know London Live's (radio) look anyway? And it's not that important to know -- just as long as you know the number of the station.

Quite a few people know LL's identity because they are constantly - and I mean constantly - plugged on BBC South East, and is the look of the London website.

This suggests to me that the TV programme will be part of the London Live 'family'. If not, it wouldn't be called London Live

London Live will be a news programme though - personally I can't see the London Live Radio and Website style used for a news programme - it won't seem right. News Programmes are meant to be quite serious - but using the London Live current style would make it look a bit like a 'yoof' programme.
