On a related note, since when did they change Newsround to only be five minutes?

Is that how short it's got? Standards are really slipping

For what it's worth, this reminds me of the wdark ole days of the early 2000s, when the Australian ABC was so starved for cash they had to close down their digital multichannels, and axe some of their longest running shows, like Behind the News (>40 years), their counterpart to Newsround.

After a year or so, and budget increases BTN returned, in both a ful-length half hour show weekday mornings (as part of their Schools learning slot, as it was originally) as well as during all the children's shows at about 5.40. They don't use any fancy sets, just a simple key, although the standard of the content is excellent. I guess what I'm trying to say is that in my (short) experience kids shows tend to ebb and flow - so it's likely that as more money comes in things'll go back to normal.

And they launched a new multichannel, ABC2 (the one with the BBC Two-ish idents). Smile

Newsround is cut to five minutes on Mondays and Fridays, because of the shedule - MI High on Mondays and Gina's Laughing Gear on Fridays.
Why does CBBC start at 7.00 when CBeebies starts at 6.00

I notice dhow much the Weather-related episode of MI High was repeated, similar to Beaker.

Gina's Larfin Gear is good stuff for the end of the week; but is it some sort of a junction for showing pilots?

I think one of the TBAs could be a programme called Our House,

CBBC's brand new show for Saturday mornings is looking for families to take part. We're hitting the road this autumn and are looking for fun and energetic families to spend the weekend with. If you want the chance to play some cool games and win some prizes then get in touch.

Does anyone reckon that BBC and ITV are giving up on Children's because of the digital switchover, and will digital services including at least CBBC, CBeebies and CITV.

It's providing them with the excuse - I don't think it's the real reason though!

Frankly, they just want shut of it!

I personally think that the only way that children's TV will get back on track is if it is funded by this government fund that they are supposedly going to create. Of course the BBC have no reason to abandon children's as they have as the funding already.

It is great that they are producing programming of a high standard such as M.I.High, the Sarah Jane Adventures and the upcoming sorcerers apprentice, but surely they shouldn't overspend too much on just a few programmes when they have a whole service to look after.

The best era (of the channel) was the launch, just because you had X Change, live links, Newsround, Nelly Nut, Dick & Dom (originally), UK Top 40, and most probably others that I don't remember all live in one studio which created a great atmosphere. It was also the fact that they had a lot of live programmes, but saying that CITV went through that stage.

It's a shame that networks don't seem to be that bothered to with children's TV. When you think that the CITV channel launched with the Saturday Showdown as it's only live show, and then got rid of it within a few months, it's a bad situation really!

P.S. And no it wasn't me posting things from digitalspy into random posts, it was some imposter horribly taking my name, and adding a 2!
