The one at Television Centre is in the area where audiences are held before going to see programmes being recorded. I would have thought that as such, it should be a gold mine. However, everything's overpriced, it's a really silly design and is generally a bit undewhelming. Even the staff discount that's offfered doesn't bring merchandinse of DVDs etc down to Internet levels. Oh, and fancy the staff discount on non-BBC products like a DAB radio or stuff tha's in the sale ... sorry, you can't have it.

That's sad news. I suppose all or most of the products if not already will be available to purchase at the BBC Shop Website.

A bit of a shame, they were more expensive than other shops but they did stock more niche stuff that big stores don't. In these days when they're trying to get more people into BBC premises closing the shops in BBC buildings such as Birmingham and Tunbridge Wells is a bit of a backward step

Might be a few 'Closing Down' bargains for sale!

I see the article says the T.Wells one definitely is closing. To be honest it never got promoted very much on Radio Kent / South East Today (or indeed online).

It would, in my opinion, be sensible to convert it into an internet cafe / drop-in / learning centre as we're one of the regions that doesn't have one - but I suppose that's too much liked joined-up thinking and the floorspace will be sold to a non-BBC shop.

Has the one in Birmingham already closed, as that doesn't get mentioned in the article.

there are two different chains of bbc shops - bbc worldwide and bbc english regions. its the bbc worldwide shops that are closing.

bbc english regions shops are in birmingham, leicester, liverpool, brighton, eastbourne and epsom. the merry hill (black country) and horsham shops were also part of english regions.

There's a BBC shop where I live - it might be a Southern Counties Radio shop, which would certainly make sense. I shouldn't suppose that's closing.
