I never knew they had them (outside of London and Birmingham) until I walked past one next to BBC Radio Merseyside's New Building in Liverpool a few months back now, as it was a Sunday I didn't have a chance to go in, from what I saw it just looked like a bog standard DVD and Book Shop albeit with the BBC logo all over the show.
I think the ones inside Brum, TVC and other internal building shops will stay open, but the ones outside from a BBC Building, such as the one at The Forum, Norwich, which is just across the way from BBC Norfolk, will close, as mentioned in the article.

The BBC Shop (which was BBC Southern Counties Radio shop beforehand) in Horsham closed about a year or so ago. Not surprised as there was rarely anyone in it. It's now become a trendy wine bar.

also you can get the same product MUCH cheaper like in Somerfield or PLAY.com etc
Don't the BBC have some sort of distribution deal with Home Entertainment Corporation AKA Choices Direct/ Choices.co.uk or whatever they are called this week?
A bit of a shame, they were more expensive than other shops but they did stock more niche stuff that big stores don't. In these days when they're trying to get more people into BBC premises closing the shops in BBC buildings such as Birmingham and Tunbridge Wells is a bit of a backward step
