Why axe a useful service, that likely doesn't cost much to run and provides the BBC with a sport channel whenever they need it without DCMS approval.

I would axe BBCi; I feel its prompts, taking up of space on Freeview, generally slow loading times, difference in style on different platforms, and its lack of content don't really justify it.

All of the talk of axing BBCi services is crazy - it won't save you much money.
The BBCi text based services is largely duplicating information on the website and so costs very little, and to suggest dropping a teletext-esque service is a little disappointing. Also if a criticism of the service is how slow it is, it is probably the fault of your box; my own Pace DTVA is very slow, but i've used a new Sagem box that is much quicker. [It wouldn't surprise me is BBCi text has quite a bill attached to it, probably a an accounting practice to make bbc.co.uk look less expensive]
The interactive streams while not costing too much, provide a very handy service - a BBC Sport 'overspill on demand' - very handy; and quite cheap.

and i'm puzzled as to how you see much of a link between Radio 2 and Five Live's output.
You're right to be puzzled, I should have put just R6 and R7. No obvious link between R5 and R2 in terms of content. Typo!

As a side note, does the BBC really need seven national radio stations
R2 a lot has variety on it, and probably covers some of R5's,R6's and R7's output

Reading that, I agree. It does make sense. I apologise!

Which BBC service would you axe?
in the light of disappointing licence fee
Disappointing rise in TVL I think it is still to high. Did anyone here that newsnight bloke the other day say something like "The slow death of BBC" about the TVL rise

Yeah I want to know this too, the BBC does provide some good programming but it’s still a dated institute in a every changing modern world.

Have you two even seen Australia's ABC? The licence fee was scrapped, the government gave them underfunding and now it's being forced to be PC (more right-wing government than being centre) instead of being independent because of new rules. I don't want the BBC to be like this, if there was a logical alternative way for it to be funded then fine. Until we figure out a way, keep the licence fee.
And anyway this were talking about CHANNELS.
