* Decided to do my take on it

Mate the article I just posted has used the logo that you made!

Well, that's interesting.

....and a bit weird.

I've removed a few posts here. I've mentioned this to one person today but I'll say it publicly here as well - this site isn't a chatroom. If you're finding yourself posting a lot of one-liners or having a back and forth conversation with one person, best take it off the thread.

And yes, no more mocks here please. That's one of the very reasons why The Gallery (Mock Designs) was created all those eons ago!

How could they get their own logo so wrong. There are 2 different variations on their webpage. I hope that this is some admin person in the US office and Broadcasting House is telling them to sort it.

Heck, it might be a full refresh of the BBC logo at the rate.

I really hope not. It looks like a cheap knock off.

I doubt for one they'd use the bold weight of the font.

Based on the BBC Reith Sans Regular versus BBC Reith Sans Bold thing, here's a little reference pointer for you.

Here is my quick PowerPoint mock up of the blocks using a page set up of 15x3cm.
The blocks are 2cm square and the font size is 44.
The central cartouche is 4x2cm and the font size is 18.
I'd thought I'd do a white blocks on black background and black text version as that white version of the blocks seems to the the most used version of the blocks. NOTE I have just done one "B" for the purposes of showing the differential.

P.S. For additional reference the black border is 0.5cm.

P.P.S. I'll let you know my view later on once I have got the referencing hat off.

The ratio of text to block is wrong too.

EDIT

Tell you what though, I'd be hard pressed to tell in passing the difference between Gill and Reith

With the proper adjustments, Reith looks good within the BBC blocks.

I am sure I have read, doubtless on here if true, that the Gill Sans BBC letters were redrawn / custom drawn specifically for the logo.
