Tonight BBC Two Scotland are showing " The Adventure Show " at 7pm and the programme from the Abolition series at 8pm. Why didn't they just keep the Abolition programme at 7 and put " The Adventure Show" on at 8pm?

The Italy v Scotland game is on BBC1 Scotland on Wednedsay, which leads to two slight quirks:
a) After all the pre-publicity about The Apprentice making its big debut on BBC1, it's relegated to BBC2 for the first week up here.
b) The game kicks off at 7.50pm. The earliest it's going to stop is 9.35pm. If it runs late in any way then there will either be no analysis or it will be shoved on to BBC2, in which case You're Fired! would be cancelled.
This is increasingly confusing because BBC2 network is showing the match. I understand why BBC Scotland want to recognise how important this game is, and also get the highest ratings possible, but it may have been a lot easier to leave it where it was. As it stands all of BBC1's programmes are moved to 2.

It shouldn't run late enough to affect programming at 10pm unless there is a serious delay at the start.
It is stupid though - at least with BBC Wales (when they had the rights) they realised BBC2 was the best place to schedule them - and along with 2W they've built up BBC2 Wales as the national BBC channel of Wales, reserving mainly the flagship stuff for BBC1 Wales - and apart from one or two shows a week, that's usually in the 10.35pm slot too.

Even if BBC Two Scotland showed the football instead of BBC One would less people be inclined to watch the match? With all the publicity BBC Scotland give every football game on TV I doubt any viewers would miss the fact that it was on BBC TV whatever side it was on.

Exactly - but the BBC still believe we live in a world where viewers can't be arsed changing from BBC1 - hence they also nick all of BBC2's hits to plug the gaps in their own schedule.

And in a further act of lunacy the BBC One Scotland version of the game is presented by Dougie Donnelly and the BBC Two version presented by Gabby Logan, and presumably a completely different set of pundits.
What a waste.

No, that one makes sense.
Having previously experienced network coverage of Scotland games, I've always found it highly patronising (even if that's not the intent), and the pundits have never been remotely interested in what's going on. It always smacks of 'this is rubbish, we didn't get the England game'.
By letting BBC Scotland do their own coverage they're probably saving money on hiring extra staff for the BBC Scotland duty office that night...
On the rare occasion STV showed the same Champions' League game as ITV1 (very rare nowadays with so many English teams now in the competition) they knew the value of providing different output. Bear in mind that this is a company that normally tries to cut costs at any avenue.

Well why can't network take the Scotland coverage then ?

Fair point. I think there's a bit of snobbishness from network about how good the regional teams are (some of which is justified, some which really isn't). I suspect they also reckon people won't be interested in this game unless they throw the A team at it. (no, not that one)
But for a game like this why not try just throwing the BBC Scotland output out there? Who knows, they might just even discover some talent that they want to poach. Or it might force BBC Scotland to raise their game a bit.

I would go with you last point:
BBC Scotland's needs to raise it stakes! Dougie Donnelly that says it all
