Ach it was a cheap dig at Reporting Scotland, sums me up really.
My concern isn't about the lack of special event idents - although I disagree that these in any way lower the tone of BBC Scotland. A Commonwealth Games celebration one would have been nice, although bearing in mind they couldn't even broadcast the announcement live it would have been a miracle to get something extra...
(Sorry, another dig there)
But my main concern is lack of any sort of interest or emotion from the announcers. Compare their announcements to their counterparts in the other national regions who sound like they care. Compare them to the network ones which are normally slick (not to say that the other national regions are anything other, of course).
BBC Scotland sound like they're reading the network announcement robotically from a card sent down from London. Which probably isn't a million miles from the truth.
And so it has ever been thus. I remember back in the day on Saturday nights when network made a special effort, BBC Scotland either ignored it or had to take the network offering because they couldn't be bothered doing it themselves.
That's all fine and good, but when the BBC looks to make cutbacks at some point they're going to ask why they need all these teams of announcers. It's at that point they need to justify themselves.

Oh I disagree there - I don't see the BBC Scotland announcers as any less involved with the viewers as other areas. Theres one lady in particular who cracks me up with her end of programme announcements; after an episode of River City where Bob has finished the show by saying 'no, she didnae, she didnae', the announcer came on and before she announced the next programme she said 'aye, she did!' - class

But let's all finally celebrate...( OK I will at least! ) The final episode of Grandad's Back In Business ( called Grandma's Back in Business ) is finally being shown
five months
after the rest of the series.
I love the way it's listed in the Radio Times " this week..." as if it's just continued from " last week " Lol

The Thursday episode of Britain's Dream Homes wasn't shown last week, and neither will this Thursday's edition. I wonder if BBC Scotland are going to hope that people don't notice that ( so far ) two editions are missing...

Holby Blue is on tonight at nine. I wonder how long HIGNFY? will stay in one time slot. One of their favourites to move around on a Friday.
I was at the Scottish Broadcasting Commission meeting in Dundee on Monday night and the top complaint at the meeting was BBC Scotland's erratic scheduling. The facilitator also mentioned that at some of the other meetings a running theme seemed to be that people were unhappy with the Newsnight Scotland opt out...
