well as I live within the grampian region then yes I am aware of it.
I simple fail to understand why you're so utterly opposed and bitter to them making something that will have cost next to nothing and gives a nice bit of rationality and fun to the channel.

Oh, I'm sorry, are you not aware that we have a pan-Scotland (minus Border Scotland) service called STV?

Not exactly, I don't live in Wales so they can do what they like. I just resent the idea that somehow BBC Scotland, or any other broadcaster, is a lesser organisation simply for not going down this seemingly pointless route - that somehow because they didn't celebrate something such as Scotland beating France at football with an ident that they are in some way inferior.
Additionally, Christmas idents are used much longer than those talked about & really, can you compare the biggest holiday season in the World with one result in a game of rugby?
And, no, I'm not uptight either. But having accusations of hypocrisy levelled at my person is not something I will respond to with good grace. I never said Grampian idents towards the end of its era where it was basically STV+News was a good thing, but its certainly a whole different issue from that being described here.
(Just to add: it didn't suggest you lived in the Grampian area when you referred to its old idents in the Present tense)

Who the bejesus said BBC Scotland are "inferior" because of this? Hyma and I are both BBC Scotland fans (for want of a better term). Both love Jackie (the) Bird. What more can we say?
I'm sorry if you found my "uptight" comment unpalatable, but you're not exactly convincing me otherwise with your latest reply.

Well I won't be apologising for presenting a strong case to defend my arguments. If you read that as ''uptight'', then so be it, but I haven't directly aimed insults at other users.
I was simply responding to certain comments that BBC Scotland lacked imagination in presentation. I can only see this being the case because they don't produce the pointless idents of which we have been speaking about - nothing more, nothing less. BBC One very rarely, and the other broadcasters never at all (in some cases not even at Christmas) produce such idents, so I fail to see how it can be a criticism levelled solely at BBC Scotland.

and STILL the bbc Scotland news with all it money is always outdone by the cheap 50p Scotland today and north tonight,
unlike the 50p cheap looking and paddy filled lookaround.
does it really matter if some people in another country does some cheap and tacky ideats?

See, now THIS is an issue - not discussion of pointless idents. If we are in the business of comparing Reporting Scotland with Wales Today (seeing as it is Welsh idents that were being triumphed), I would take Reporting Scotland every day - a much better programme. BBC Scotland News v STV News is a whole other (well-worn) issue. Many have expressed views on each side of the fence. Personally, I believe North Tonight serves me better for a local perspective, yet I feel Reporting Scotland is a much better National News programme, and hardly p***-poor.

Yes, maybe you've got a point. BBC Scotland has bigger problems fixing its p***-poor news service.

I have to disagree. A comparison is very important. We fund a service whose lower budgeted, little sister service is a lot better at providing comprehensive news. Our money is spent in its millions on the BBC, and it's expected Reporting Scotland should represent this.
We should be careful though, as this argument is starting to sound like it should be in The Newsroom.

I know I have to agree with Grampian. What is the point in comparing Scotland Today / North Tonight with Reporting Scotland? They are two separate proagrammes run by two different companies. It would be boring if they were identical.
