There’s definitely a place for comedy pitched at a working class audience. It just doesn’t need to be so cliched. I actually think Scot Squad and Two Doors Down don’t really fall into that category.

In answer to the question about what I would do to replace the loop, I’d go with the BBC Alba approach with a weather map and rebroadcast from Radio Scotland (with a live camera in the studio where possible). It’s not going to set the heather alight but it’s better than a 10 minute loop with weird clips from programmes.

We'll have to disagree. They are very cliché, and full of lowest common denominator smut. You can see "jokes" a mile off.

Why has Great Escapes with Colin and Justin flopped so bad? Once again not in the Top 15 (rating below 25k).

I’m quite into “ property porn “ on the TV, but I found this quite dull and uninteresting. It’s also a poor follow up when you’ve been used to Scotland’s Home of the Year.

Inside the Zoo to premiere Monday at 8pm and be repeated at 7pm the next day followed by Inside Central Station.

Can't help but think this looks amateurish and desperate having two different programmes with similar titles scheduled next to each other.

A bad decision in the first place to name the programme about the zoo this as it leads to comparisons and gives it an easily manufactured and calculated "we need you to watch this" feel.

More drama being shown now; The Replacement (3 x 60) this week and Elizabeth Is Missing starring Glenda Jackson next Monday.

Good. Anything that is new to the channel if not new itself is welcome.

Bring on Hamish Macbeth, Lip Service and Sea of Souls.

BBC Scotland are to stop showing the Scottish briefings on a daily basis, after supposedly caving in to the Scottish Tories who claimed they were "SNP Party Political Broadcasts".

Also Brian Taylor is retiring as BBC Scotland Political Editor. Looks like they'll have a replacement ahead of next years planned Scottish elections.

Turns out nobody had 2020 vision.

It was actually Lord Foulkes that put a complaint into OFCOM about the briefings. For The National to say it was the Tories, doesn't surprise me at all.

Thank god they're being stopped.

That's a bit silly. If they are being politicised then surely the answer is to get the relevant parliamentary standards body to stop them being so.

The answer isn't to stop broadcasting them

Surely they need to stop broadcasting the Westminster one as well in that case, and PMQs. Indeed that argument is even stronger considering the briefing is sometimes only relevant to England (although it is info people crossing the border need to know).

Presumably those who wanted the briefings stopped will bully (not surprising) the BBC to reinstate them should cases and deaths of Covid-19 increase? Perhaps if these people whose lives are so dependent on being out their skulls and overall having a complete disregard for others had followed rules then daily briefings nearly six months on since the start of lockdown would not have been necessary.

More on topic, this latest event gives an excuse for some to get a kick in at the channel. "There's nothing on" apparently. True, there are tons of repeats but to expect new programmes with big budgets and high production values night after night is laughable. If it's in-yer-face reality shows that are wanted, BBC Scotland is the wrong place to be looking for them.
