The current Sky EPG slots might be temporary.

Maybe they'll move to 969 and 970 once BBC 2 Scotland closes.

There are a few issues with scheduling I can see on this channel, the simulcast with BBC Two 12:15-19:00 seems unnecessary (apart from HD provision) and causes some issues.

For example, on Wednesday, Politics Live starts on BBC Two at 11:15 but BBC Scotland joins it at 12:00, it then has to shuffle BBC Two programmes around to fit in Politics Scotland at 14:30.

On Friday, BBC Two has Athletics coverage from Glasgow from 9:30, with BBC Scotland joining to simulcast at 12:00. Then at 18:30 they are taking the first 30 minutes of BBC Two's coverage of the evening session before leaving it for live football. Similar on Saturday and Sunday, joining the morning session late to show the final hour, and then leaving the evening session at 19:00 for a short news bulletin then recorded programmes.

There should be some flexibility in the schedule at least to avoid these issues and they should at least show the athletics in full when it doesn't clash with the football, given it is taking place in Glasgow and won't otherwise be available in HD in Scotland.

I'm also surprised they're still showing football on BBC Alba on Tuesday, and not moving the match across or at least simulcasting it with BBC Scotland.

BBC2 HD will still be available in Scotland. Agree though there should be more common sense when it comes to programming that cuts through the 12noon/7pm times, and also they should have actually simulcast the athletics as much as possible given it is in Glasgow and a cheap (free) way to put a live event from Scotland on BBC Scotland in week one.

Looking at the schedule though it is clear this is a channel built around the news - much of the rest looks like filler.

Not sure why they couldn't have kept BBC 2 Scotland and just opt out from the network? Not quite sure what BBC Scotland offers other than news

For a start, it's more prominent, more of a statement.

I imagine BBC Scotland will commission shows, and in time it will develop it's own distinct programming and personality. Does Scotland now get Network BBC Two, or do they just lose BBC Two every evening?

It's actually less prominent than BBC 2 Scotland was in terms of the EPG position.

BBC Scotland is also just a simulcast of BBC 2 for 7 hours a day (which doesn't make much sense given BBC 2 still being available in Scotland on the old BBC 2 Scotland EPG position), with local programming for just 5 hours a day.

Some repetition at times is useful.

BBC Two Scotland has been replaced in it's entirety 24/7 by BBC Two Network (England)

BBC Scotland is available Noon - Midnight in addition (but only in HD on Freeview between 1900 and Midnight).

Thank you for clarifying

Why didn't they just keep BBC 2 Scotland and opt out of network for 5 hours??

Why do they have to make everything so complicated? This is why we shouldn't be allowed digital tv... it gives people mad ideas like this.

Because then they'd have the aforementioned 'except for viewers in Scotland' problem.

If it was just an opt out then most viewers in Scotland would lose all primetime BBC2 programmes
