I presume those outside Scotland can't see the HD feed? I can see BBC Scotland in SD on Sky 876. I thought it might have been buried in with the regions on channels 950 upwards, maybe at 969 but obviously not.

Both SD and HD are on Freesat too. Just popped up on the auto tuning set at home.

I've found it - BBC Scotland HD outside of Scotland is on Sky 457 (of all places, why is it buried in that random position?)

No, can't see it here although the Sky+ app suggests it should be the HD channel on 876.

Anyway, I have now set up my series link for Still Game

457 is such a random position for the channel, at the end of the Sports section...

That entire 450+ section seems to be either a dumping ground or an overflow area from Entertainment; it isn't categorised as "Sports" under the tab/filter system, it just jumps from 435 to 490/1/2/3 and then the SD/HD swaps from 855 upwards.

There are a few issues with scheduling I can see on this channel, the simulcast with BBC Two 12:15-19:00 seems unnecessary (apart from HD provision) and causes some issues.

For example, on Wednesday, Politics Live starts on BBC Two at 11:15 but BBC Scotland joins it at 12:00, it then has to shuffle BBC Two programmes around to fit in Politics Scotland at 14:30.

On Friday, BBC Two has Athletics coverage from Glasgow from 9:30, with BBC Scotland joining to simulcast at 12:00. Then at 18:30 they are taking the first 30 minutes of BBC Two's coverage of the evening session before leaving it for live football. Similar on Saturday and Sunday, joining the morning session late to show the final hour, and then leaving the evening session at 19:00 for a short news bulletin then recorded programmes.

There should be some flexibility in the schedule at least to avoid these issues and they should at least show the athletics in full when it doesn't clash with the football, given it is taking place in Glasgow and won't otherwise be available in HD in Scotland.

I'm also surprised they're still showing football on BBC Alba on Tuesday, and not moving the match across or at least simulcasting it with BBC Scotland.

There can't moved matches from alba.

The English and Gaelic rights are, I believe, negotiated separately.

Remember BBC Alba isn’t a wholly owned BBC channel.
