It's 2019, there are means and ways of catching up on River City. EastEnders got rid of their Sunday omnibus a few years back.
For most viewers, their favourite network shows continue with the only real subtle difference is that the continuity is more than likely to be from an English person.

To all intensive purposes, BBC Scotland is an additional channel with some output previously on BBC Two Scotland, with BBC Two continuing as a shared network service between England and Scotland.
