Is that 'BBC Scotland' set in Reith? Doesn't look too jarring next to the Gill Sans blocks, though perhaps it's masked by the OTT effects

The logo looks awful.

I can't see this channel lasting more than a few years anyway.

It seems a little extravagant in times of cuts.

The same could be said for STV when the rebranded in 2006 as the logo was basically the British Steel logo.

MLN would hate the treatment of the BBC logo, but here's the promo:

An evolution of their (BBC Scotland's) long running three stripe logo, which I always thought was very clever. I wonder if it is replacing it everywhere?

The texture on both the S and the BBC logo is hideous and virtually illegible though

Yeah, they can't launch with that. Sony, the owner of Screen Gems, would indeed be quite entitled to file a lawsuit, the logo is actually still in use. They need to remake that ident with the three stripe logo. And fix that legend while they're at it, Inspector Sands is right about the legibility.

Irrespective of the possible Screen Gems copyright infringement, I'm flabbergasted that the BBC Scotland TV channel would be planning to launch with anything other than the long-standing "3 stripe" motif as its logo.

The 3-stripe motif seems to have been around (albeit with the odd redesign) since the dawn of time. If it ain't broke, break it?
