Yes I think it was when Roly Keating became controller of BBC2 CBBC hours began at 7am until last year when it was put back to starting at 6am.
It makes you wonder though what will the BBC do when the digital switchover is complete. There will be no further need surely for CBBC to continue on BBC1 or BBC2 and the complete switchover is only 4 years away. What will the BBC show instead I wonder?
The same goes with BBC news overnight on BBC1. Surely BBC1 will not be showing News 24 after the complete switchover. Will BBC1 revert back to closing down with the national anthem maybe? That would be interesting to see

BBC1 and BBC2 are, I suspect, for a long time yet going to be seen as the BBC's 'flagship' channels and will want to continue to be quite mixed in the variety of programming they show, including children's TV.
