BBC Red Button streams closing

and BBC One HD Nations launching. (October 2012)

Confirmation today that all but one red button stream will close on the 15th October, along with the DSat7 transponder.

A new DSat8 HD transponder will also launch soon for BBC One HD streams for the nations.

The one good thing hidden in the announcements was that BBC 2 HD (and the closure of BBC HD) has effectively been delayed to 2013.

All we know is that it won't be happening in the next three months then.

That and they have spare bandwith for another HD channel on the new transponder.

And they're moving the radio services onto a UK beam. That will go down well with the ex-pats...
