And more surprisingly, the BBC have acquired a slot on ARQ A DTT multiplex for Red Button 302. Which reverses their recent change to only 1 Red Button video stream, and introduces a differential between full Freeview and Freeview "lite" areas

That improves things and presumably would be replicated on Sky/Cable/Freesat. A shame they couldn't get their act sorted a year ago before the Olympics though, and personally I'd bump BBC Parliament off to ARQ A (if any MPs want to moan about it they can bloody well push for the funding to add at least one more mux to the "lite" service!")

Interesting. The BBC Trust were quite complimentary of the Red Button service in their recent review weren't they?

Seems this might not be permanent, the caption states 'for Summer 2013' which could mean it's time limited.

The caption has changed since yesterday, I don't recall the 'for Summer 2013' bit last night Sad

In which case, probably earmarked for Glastonbury and/or Wimbledon ?

Indeed it has changed.

Worth noting that on LCN 308 there's an MHEG caption for BBC Red Button saying if you can see this message on 302 you need to retune your Freeview box.

Some scheduling information has now appeared on the Freeview EPG, seems as shown there currently, that the first use of RB HD will be on Thursday 13th June at 1230 with Queen's Tennis.

I wonder if this is because they haven't sold their space yet - and can see a point in using it this summer. Particularly for the Doctor Who 3D 50th Anniversary episode - which would be difficult to broadcast any other way?

But that's not until November. And the 3D is being used in cinemas.

Unless they simulcast on BBC One and BBC Two...

Very much doubt they would do that - 3D side-by-side output on BBC Two SD would be pointless. And it would kill BBC Two's audience figures (as so few people actually watch 3D)

..... and Red Button HD is live with a short test loop, at least on DTT.
