I hope the new news studio... will have a colour scheme similar to the 99-03 studio.

Oh god no. That blue was cold and sterile and wasnt very friendly, a bit like ITVs current studio.

no, that would have been the pre-99 set, wouldn't it. The one I think he is referring to is the cream and red era.

I did like the cream and red colour scheme - probably my favourite of the lot. I doubt it will make a return though as the BBC are probably going to come out with something brand new using the red and another colour.

Oops, I need my eyes testing, I thought he was talking about the 93-97 one. Sorry.

The walls in all the mocks I have seen of BH involve no decoration

Check the red walls in the area on the balcony overlooking the newsroom...

ah yes. I'm not sure about the shape of it though, it's very Tardis like with all those "organic pillars"

Does anyone know what is happening at Television Centre, and in the surrounding area? Is some of it being closed off/sold. I assume Bush House is for the chop too.

Anyone else think it is dumb for Five Live (Live News) to leave the BBC Newsroom and go to Manchester?

Oh and Radio 1 isn't moving back to Broadcasting House, in fact it hasn't been there since the early 1970's .

Radio 1 IS moving back. It used to come from there - admittedly ages and ages ago, and will be moving back as all BBC Radio is to come from the complex.

I haven't heard anything to that extent

It would make sense, but as the other 2 music stations (2 and 6) are moving out of BH, i'd be surprised if 1 and 1xtra would give up their relatively new self contained facility

The BBC don't actually own Bush House, they just rent it. I presume after the BBC move out, it will be rented to someone else.

One of the main reasons for TV and Radio News moving to BH is that the lease on Bush House runs out, and TV Centre isn't big enough to house World Service Radio as well, so they are combining all the services at BH.

(The BBC doesn't own Bush, it leases it)

Really? I quite liked the 93-99 news studios actually.

Well, it certainly would be a bit pointless to refurbish the current R1 studios that are in the basement of Yalding House, which is what they're doing. I'm sure some people have noticed the studio that Chris Moyles and co come from has been re-done and that one of the other "old" ones has disappeared.

From what I've read on here the plan is to pull each one off line in turn and overhaul them which would explain why you no longer see one of the studios on the webcam.

I don't know how much it would cost to re fit each studio (presumably a good few ten thousands I'd guess as some of the gear is re-used) but given that the BBC are supposed to be going on a cost cutting exercise I doubt that refurbishing studios only to move out a year or two later would be at the top of their priorities.

I have also seen that Radio 2's studios seem to be a relic from the 80s in terms of design and its equipment. I take it they're not going to be refurbishing the studios because they're moving building (where are R2 based at the moment?).

TV Centre is being stripped of quite a bit of its assets, it seems - many of its functions have already moved to the Broadcast Cenre and Media Centre, News is going to BH, Sport and Childrens are going to Manchester - what's going to be left?
