yes it will be interesting. bbc wm have spent the last 10 years trying to make people use the name bbc wm, as opposed to "radio wm"

Just because the word 'Radio' is in the logo doesn't mean it's in the name.

Seeing as my DAB display says 'BBC Radio 6 Music' and the logo now says 'BBC Radio 6 Music', it's not unreasonable to surmise that the name of the station is therefore 'BBC Radio 6 Music'. The fact that it isn't is patently absurd. It's even worse than the 'LDN' nonsense we had a few years ago.

They are alright, love the BBC 7 logo but they really did run out of ideas with 5 live

Radio 2 is the worst - complete lack of imagination there; however the 'Radio' 6 Music is quite nice and I rather like BBC 'Radio' 7 as well.

Not too sure on these - but they serve the purpose well considering they only appear in print and on the occasional TV trailer.

Asian Network, Radio 7, Radio 6 and Radio 4, are definately the best of the bunch...

AIUI that was so that the DAB stations were in the right order alphabetically. It's very unlikely they'll start to call it BBC Radio 6 Music' on air, for a start it's a mouthful. The name 'BBC Radio 1' hasn't been used regularly on air or on the DAB name for many years despite the logo literally reading 'BBC Radio 1'

The station is called '6 Music' and it's part of 'BBC Radio', the logo needn't be read literally

But reading a logo literally is what most people will do. If the BBC don't want people calling these stations 'Radio 6' and 'Radio 7', it's a very bizarre thing to do. In fact, I don't see why they don't just relent and make those the official names - see former 6 Music DJ Andrew Collins's blog: "The thing I have loved the most about my time at "Radio 6" (our name hasn't exactly entered public consciousness in five years - even people who love it or have been on it call it ******* Radio 6 - but it's too late to stop now)..." http://www.wherediditallgoright.com/BLOG/2007/03/penultimate.html

No-one ever thought that this http://www.tvradiobits.co.uk/radio/Radio%203%201990.jpg was the logo for 'Radio 3,3'

or even 'Radio Radio Radio Radio 4' - http://www.tvradiobits.co.uk/radio/Radio%204%201988.jpg

I think you'll find the second one was actually for BBC Radio Radio Radio 4 Radio.

Radio 3 and Radio 4 were long-established by the time those logos were in use. The digital stations are not so well-known. BBC 7 is already called Radio 7 by a lot of people, so it does not make any sense to change the station logo to the name that most people already incorrectly call it!

Radio 2's logo reads 'BBC RADIO 2' which makes sense as that is the station's name. BBC 7's new logo is formatted in exactly the same way, and so reads 'BBC RADIO 7' - yet that isn't the station's name. I can't see how anyone can argue that there is any logic behind that. Either remove, the word RADIO from the logo, or preferably, just give in and rename the station to Radio 7!

Surely it's just to give a consistent branding style - all of them are from BBC Radio ... it's just the Radio isn't used on air all the time. It's very rare you hear BBC Radio 5 Live - it's just 5 Live. I think we'll have to see how they are used when they re-brand all the websites etc.
