There is no Thread about BBC Prime, not even a single post where BBC Prime is mentioned. There must be something wrong.

Yesterday I realized that BBC Prime got rid of this old fireworks stuff. But the new idents are not much better, very simple and cheap. According to the BBC, BBC Prime has the best material we ever produced. In reality, there is so much old stuff and the newer ones are not at all interesting except The office, Little Britain and Coupling. The whole station is truly 4:3 and has very rarly moments of something nearly a 16:9 format. My cable company offers this channel for free to all their customers.

Getting pictures is difficult, because I usually take my shots via digital satellite or "freeview".

You dont 'solve' the problem by posting something that isnt mentioned, instead go find out whats 'wrong' with not mentioning BBC Prime. Shocked

Obviously sprky isn't in the UK (even though he seems to have access to Freeview and Digital Satellite) since BBC PRIME cannot be shown by any cable company here.

Where are you based sparky?

I want to know, why BBC Prime dont broadcast in 16:9. Digital viewers in Europe, who havent widesreen television, can choose format back to 4:3 (letterbox) on their DVB-S/C receiver, if they want.

There is nothing wrong. BBC Prime cannot be viewed in the UK, and as this forum is *mostly* populated by UK TV enthusiasts, it is little wonder we are not discussing it.

1. I'm from Switzerland
2. digital satellite is not equal to sky.
3. "freeview" means DVB-T, this is why I used the "". the Germans call it Überallfernsehen (TV everywhere), the French TNT (translated DVB-T). I used just a common expression.
4. I forgot to mention, there is no more voice telling you whats coming next. on Prime
5. Via satellite I get the BBC, ITV, Sky News, Film4 and some extrastreams from the BBC. Channel 4 and five are still missing. No Skybox, just an FTA-Aldi-Receiver for around 50£.
6. Getting UK Channels is a heavily discussed topic in other parts of europe.
7. BBC Prime is a Pay-TV channel for other countries except UK, my cable company transmits BBC Prime like different italian, french stations. Cable is used by 90% of swiss households.

But interesting is, posting a topic twice is wrong and searching for a topic is wrong, the News is just that one of the BBC channels has new idents and other changes.

Well this section "The Newsroom" is for discussion of ongoing news stories and for TV News and News Channels.

It should have been posted in the "TV Home Forum"

But otherwise, could you post images of this new look?

the green balls are like a pendular and after 2-3 times the logo appears in the center of the picture

the yellow ball moves down like pacman, disappears and appears again a bit more left and moves up.

pretty simple and no voice telling you whats next. not that ugly as in my first impression.

Thanks for the pictures, it seems the BBC have taken Prime for a more simple look.
